Disney's The Lion King Remake: 8 Things They Must Do To Nail It

7. Improve And Perfect The 'Jungle Book' Technology

When that first trailer for the recent Jungle Book remake went live, the Internet couldn't quite believe that the entire movie was shot on a sound stage in downtown Los Angeles. And yet, the utterly realistic-looking animals, environments and weather effects were all created by a bunch of special effects wizards, using footage of real animals as a reference point.

The technology was astounding, and if there's one job the Lion King remake has on its sizeable plate, it's to perfect this technology. Because, while it was pretty damn impressive in The Jungle Book, it wasn't flawless - certain textures looked too glossy to be in the middle of the filthy jungle, and the way the animals' mouths moved when they spoke didn't always look convincing.

Both Disney's Jungle Book and Lion King remakes have been accused of being rather pointless when we have the already stellar originals, but there's an argument to be made that the way they're advancing filmmaking technology - just as Avatar revolutionised 3D technology - more than makes them a worthwhile endeavour, and The Lion King would be wise to carry this torch forward - the better the technology, the better the film!

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
