Doctor Strange 2: 10 Multiverse Cameos That Would Break The Internet

9. Bruce Campbell As Mysterio

Before Sony decided to reboot the Spider-Man franchise with Andrew Garfield, Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire were actually gearing up to shoot Spider-Man 4.

Among the litany of things we know about that cancelled instalment is the fact that Mysterio would've appeared in some capacity, rumoured to be played by The Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell. And though Campbell himself has since shot that rumour down, wouldn't it be funny if Raimi decided to play with it in Multiverse Of Madness, by roping in his old pal to play a Mysterio variant?

Interestingly, Campbell has already confirmed he's in the movie, and since we can't imagine him having a major leading/supporting role, we're guessing it's a cameo. So what sort of small role would Raimi have asked him to play?

A strong possibility here is that he's there for a simple gag - exactly like he was in Spider-Man 2, where he played the usher who turns Peter away from MJ's play.

But given that No Way Home proved Marvel Studios has its finger on the pulse of the fandom (Andrew Garfield cracking Tobey Maguire's back, Norman Osborn's "I'm something of a scientist myself" line), it's easy to imagine them cheekily acknowledging the Campbell/Mysterio rumour, by bringing that rumour to life.
