Doctor Strange: 22 Secrets Revealed By The Director's Commentary
22. The New Logo Theme
Marvel Studios unveiled a brand new - and probably very expensive - logo for Phase 3, with an animated sequence charting the evolution of the MCU on screen, which was shown at the start of Doctor Strange to great effect.
It turns out that Michael Giacchino wrote the new musical accompaniment to the logo, cementing himself as one of the best (and most reliable) composers working in Hollywood today.
21. The Director's Pitch Process
Derrickson reveals on the track what it takes to get a job with Marvel. It probably helps that he says Doctor Strange is his favourite comic, but it also cost him a lot of time and money to get through the multiple meetings with Marvel.
In total, he went through eight omeetings - he remembers counting them - the same amount many of the other directors up for the job had to go through. Luckily for him he says Marvel and Kevin Feige - who deserves praise for giving mega-budget jobs to directors other studios wouldn't even consider - "respect passion, experience and talent."
And his vision paid off.
