Doctor Strange: 9 Big Implications For Phase 3 And Beyond

8. Magic In The MCU

The MCU has flirted with the idea of magic before now, but Doctor Strange marks the first time it's fully committed itself to spells and sorcery.

There are now a wealth of incantations and artefacts opened up to this universe, and with them comes plenty of possibilities.

With Marvel constantly planning ahead, Strange bringing in magic opens up Phase 4 to continue down a more mystical path, while just having Strange himself around is a big boost for the Avengers. He's already incredibly powerful, and having someone who can use magic is going to be a big help against a foe like Thanos.

Magic needs to be carefully used - it could always end up being a way out of any sticky situation or plot hole simply by handwaving - but it also opens up a raft of possibilities for the MCU.
