Doctor Strange: 9 Reasons It's The Weirdest Marvel Movie Ever

8. The Action Scenes Are Completely Different

Action sequences aren't something Marvel have struggled with in the past, but they do tend to come from the same superhero school of flying about and punching each other, albeit with varying degrees of escalation, character, and powers (hitting all three so well helped make the airport scene in Captain America: Civil War such a joyous experience).

Doctor Strange doesn't shy away from brawls, but the way they happen and the choreography is rather unlike anything we've seen before from the studio.

The fight scenes, whether it's at close quarters or stood apart using their powers, are wonderfully inventive. There's a marriage of the stunning effects work, the magic introduced during the film, and nods to a more graceful, spiritual style of fighting like choreography from a Hong Kong film. There's time-travel, weapons, and even a cape getting involved in the scrap. It's weirder than most of Marvel's other fight scenes, but that's no bad thing.
