Doctor Strange: 9 Reasons It's The Weirdest Marvel Movie Ever

6. Magic And Time Travel

Doctor Strange has been billed for a while now as being the movie to bring magic into the MCU. While you could make arguments for some form of magic already existing - Thor and the other Asgardians being the best example of this - it is true that Strange does succeed in using magic much more overtly; there are clear spells and sorcery at work here, with incantations to recite and rules to follow.

Similarly, with the Eye of Agamotto, Strange brings time-travel to the MCU as well. This isn't Back to the Future or Doctor Who levels of zipping around time, but rather using the Eye to rewind and replay events, again blending perfectly with the visuals of the movie.

The MCU has never really been grounded, but introducing these two elements is still taking a fairly sizeable leap. Although both work within the film's narrative and established world, it's still weird when we first see Strange using magic, or turning the clock back and forth on an apple.
