Without going into too much detail, the manner in which the film presents Wanda is going to prove hugely divisive with fans.

Following up on the events of WandaVision as it does, Multiverse of Madness takes some bold turns with her character which are alternately intriguing and massively disappointing.

The motivation for Wanda's quest throughout the film - one which brings her to blows with Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) - is woefully uninteresting and ultimately rakes over a lot of the ideas already explored sufficiently in WandaVision.

Wanda's actions during the movie are so often framed through the lens of an angry mother which, for a superhero as powerful as she is, feels rather regressive and dull.

There are other aspects of her portrayal which can't even be hinted at for spoiler reasons, but there's sure to be lots of debate and exhausting discourse in the weeks to come about Wanda's arc in this story.
