The other main group affiliation the Sorcerer Supreme wields - apart from being a member of the Magic Circle which, obviously, he's not allowed to talk about - is the shadowy Illuminati, who actually have a lot in common with the "real life" group that conspiracy theorists like to blame for everything. Except instead of world superpowers, they're a load of people with actual superpowers, namely some of the most powerful members of the Marvel Universe. They were only introduced in the comics a few years ago, but apparently they've been behind some of the biggest events in the history of the universe. Amongst their ranks are Professor Charles Xavier, Mr Fantastic, Black Panther, Namor The Sub-Mariner and (duh) Doctor Strange. The ethics of the group are a little iffy - especially when they start doing stuff like launching the Hulk into space, because he's too dangerous to keep on Earth any more, another storyline rumoured to be heading to the big screen - but Strange used his place in it to help with a spate of incursions from alternate realities that were threatening Earth and also managed to help out during that Civil War thing that might be turning up soon, if you believe the scuttlebutt.
