Doctor Strange Review: 8 Ups & 5 Downs

5. The Rag Doll Effects
The importance of The Matrix to this movie really shouldn't be understated: whether because they share similar ideas on mysticism, the Chosen One and alternate realms, they look like siblings.
Unfortunately Doctor Strange appears to have learned something else a little less welcome from its forebear: the effects of computerised human bodies in flight and combat. It just doesn't look like any of the lessons of the Matrix sequels were learned, because the first big set-pieces have some of the worst rag doll physics you're likely to see.
It's all covered nicely by the 3D, but once you notice it, it's horribly off-putting, precisely because of how excellent the environmental work is in comparison. To then see bad video game sprites jumping around is very poor.
