Downey Jr. makes The Soloist a duet!

Joe Wright's movie Atonement tonight which I'm actually quite looking forward too. I enjoyed the trailers I've seen and if it's as good and well-acted as Wright's last movie Pride & Prejudice then it should be a fun movie. Attention now turns to Wright's next movie which we already know will be The Soloist, a real-life tale of Los Angeles columnist Steve Lopez who discovered Nathaniel Ayers, a homeless man who remarkably was an extraordinarily skillful violinist. The movie depicts their close relationship as Lopez would write columns about Ayers and his schizophrenia. Jamie Foxx plays the musician Ayers and Variety are telling us that he will be starring opposite Robert Downey Jr, who has just been cast as the journalist. Wright has a really great eye for casting. Pride & Prejudice although maybe a little formulaic and obvious in it's choices, had the right people in the right roles which is half the battle for period drama's. Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. are both terrific actors and this material sounds like they will have something to get their teeth stuck into. Shooting is to begin in January from a script by Erin Brockovich scribe Susannah Grant.
