Dr. Manhatten cast in Watchmen?

Watchmen for many weeks now but I can almost guarantee that by the end of the month we should have some concrete information to discuss. The latest rumor, said to be from a very reliable source to CHUD.com indicates that Billy Crudrup has been cast as Dr. Manhatten in Watchmen, with an official announcement expected at Comic-Con. The role of Dr. Manhatten is probably the hardest to cast in the film. He is the only super human character in the series. He exists as a god like figure with super human strenghs and abilities after an unfortunate accident involving nuclear physics. We've already reported that Keanu Reeves was the first choice for the role but he priced himself out when he asked for more money. Jason Patric has also been rumored for the role but Billy Crudrup sounds like a fine choice to me. I thought he was going to be a huge star after his stellar performance in Almost Famous but for whatever reason he's plodded along with small roles, barely receiving any recognition. Only Gerard Butler is said to have been cast as of yet (in as yet unknown believed to be very small role) although I would virtually put my house on Patrick Wilson as Night-Owl and Jackie Earle Haley sounds like a great shout for Rorschach.
