Dr No To Skyfall: How 50 Years Has Changed James Bond

Bond: €˜I admire you courage, Miss?€™Mystery woman: €˜Trench. Sylvia Trench. I admire your luck Mr?€™Bond: €˜Bond. James Bond€™ The final and main difference between the modern and original films, and the reason they can€™t be compared. The main four actors to play Bonds have had their own version of the character, so it€™s impossible to say who the best is. Sean Connery was the original; he was suave, classically handsome, dangerous, pretty-much perfect. Roger Moore€™s Bond was more family-friendly, humorous and cocky. After the more faithful-to-the-book version from Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan brought more action and also brought back some of the suave. Daniel Craig€™s Bond is dangerous, flawed, emotionally damaged and egotistical. All four of the main versions were different and each had different material to work with. Connery was more style and substance, while Craig has more action and drama. Both are brilliant actors but to compare them is ludicrous. The original Bond would be considered too one-dimensional by modern standards. Their interactions with M alone show huge differences. Craig is willing to bend the rules and go against M, even if it doesn€™t work out for the best, while Connery followed orders and rarely made a mistake. James Bond was created as the man every man wanted to be; witty, successful with the many ladies and he was a spy. In the early films he was pretty much perfect and he showed little-to-no emotional connection with anybody at all. In Quantum Bond is still heavily affected by the death of Vesper Lynd and it shows how vulnerable he is. Bond: €˜The name€™s Bond. James Bond€™
