Dream Casting Nic Cage's Tiger King Series

17. Rick Kirkham - Billy Bob Thornton

It's hard to go against Rick Kirkham himself, who suggested in the Netflix after show special that Billy Bob Thornton would be a perfect fit to play him in a movie. Thornton has the acting talent to take on any role, but his ability to look like a grizzled broken down old man is what really makes him perfect for the part. While the man who filmed Joe Exotic's TV productions seems to be in a better place now, Kirkham himself has admitted that the experience very nearly broke him.

While we wouldn't expect all of the Bad Santa exploits to appear in his representation of Kirkham, the heavy boozing aspects Thornton portrayed in that movie would be absolutely perfect here. Thornton's acting range is exemplary and there would be none more able to display the gradual loss of hope that poor old Kirkham endured.

Should old Billy Bob knock down our overtures then Sean Penn would be next on our radar, another man for whom a cigarette and beer do not look out of place. Seriously, Penn looks like he's been beaten down all his life, and with his natural talent in front of the camera he would prove more than an adequate backup.
