Eddie Redmayne Enters The Harry Potter World In First Fantastic Beasts Image

You're a wizard, Eddie.

Has Eddie Redmayne ever looked more Eddie Redmayne-y in the first ever image from Eddie Redmayne And The Goblet Of How Long Can I Put Off Doing More Books For? No, probably not. Entertainment Weekly's cover this week is dedicated to Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them and offers the first look at Jupiter Ascending screamer Redmayne in the central role as Newt Scamander, author of one of Harry's schoolbooks. The trilogy of films will follow the magizoologist on a bunch of adventures inspired by the thin volume J.K. Rowling wrote for charity back in 2001, an expansion that makes The Hobbit look restrained. OK, so it's very easy to be cynical about this movie, but it's also hard to not get a teensy bit excited. The world of Harry Potter is glorious and with Rowling penning the script you know the trilogy will have her wonderful sense of storytelling. The bright background also suggests David Yates has finally ended his love affair with dark filters that plagued the final four Potter movies. And, of course, Redmayne is a brilliant actor. It pains me to say it, but he deserved his Oscar win over Michael Keaton for The Theory Of Everything and while it's all very typical Potter/Redmayne, his Newt does look good. EW promise more information when the issue hits newsstands at the end of the week, so stay tuned. Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is in cinemas on 18th November 2016.
