Edgar Wright: 10 Moments That Prove His Utter Genius

3. Queen€™s €œDon€™t Stop Me Now€

The single greatest scene in Shaun of the Dead (and that's saying something because there are MANY to choose from) Ok, here's the deal: Shaun and the gang are holding it down at the Winchester. Shaun turns the power on so they can try and watch the news while Ed decides it'd be a good idea to play the slot machine. The noise attracts the zombies and then the undead owner shows up. Cue, Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now." The jukebox begins blasting this song which prompts this classic line from Shaun, "David, kill the Queen" and they begin attacking the undead owner with pool sticks. The entire attack is choreographed to the song which results in a hilarious dance fight. Once you add in David's frantic attempt to shut the fuses off which results in all of the lights flashing on and off like a concert, well you're left with a musical breaking out in the middle of this classic zom-rom-com. An absolute perfect scene...and then Shaun gets hit in the head with a dart.

I'm married and live in New York with my wife and pets. I'm a writer and definitely not a comedian (just ask my wife). I've successfully linked my twitter, goodreads, facebook and google+ pages although the successful aspect of all that is up for debate. I also started my own blog on wordpress and have just finished my first novel, The Violent Winds. Now it's time to try and trick some unsuspecting fool into buying it.
