Edgar Wright: The Definitive Guide To Homages, Influences And References

When Shaun€™s mother doesn€™t want to be any fuss in their rescue attempt, Ed overrules her, calling her by her first name, Barbara, in a reference to Night Of The Living Dead where Johnny tells his sister Barbara that €˜they€™re (the zombies) are coming to get you.€™ Ed twists it, yelling the immortal line €œWe€™re coming to get you, Barbara!€ Apparently, despite it being the most famous line from George A. Romero€™s horror classic, the director didn€™t realise the line was lifted from his work despite a privately viewing the film in his home. Wright eventually had to tell the legend in a phone conversation.
