Eva Mendes has joined the cast of
Cleaner, which has now seemingly lost "The" from it's title. Unfortunately
Renny Harlin is still on board to direct. We've spoke about this movie a couple of times in the past, which you can read by clicking on the following....
Samuel L. Jackson's casting and
Ed Harris' casting. Here is the plot once more...
Written by Matthew Aldrich, the story centers on a former cop (Jackson) who makes his living cleaning up crime scenes. After cleaning a murder site, he discovers that the crime was never reported to the police and that he has unwittingly covered up a homicide. Mendes will be playing a widow who turns to Jackson for help. Although it has a killer cast, I can't get excited for this movie for three reasons... 1) Renny Harlin has only ever made shit, with only 1 or 2 movies you could possibly call "passable". 2) Samuel L. Jackson's career in the 21st century has been "rocky" at best. Although I can't wait to see Black Snake Moan. 3) The plot sounds dumb. It's going to take one hell of a written script to keep this loose "plot" going for the length of a feature. Might work for 20 minutes, but I can see it soon losing fuel early in the second act. But we'll see. I hope I'm wrong, it has a pretty impressive cast who when they are on their game are incredible to watch. source -
