As preposterous as it is that The Boss Baby made the cut above The Lego Batman Movie, the mediocre DreamWorks animation at least has zero chance of scooping the prize itself, what with its preference for eye-rolling toilet humour and general failure to make the most of a satire-ripe premise.

Alec Baldwin gives a far better performance in the title role than the movie deserves, and while intermittently amusing, ultimately The Boss Baby is more bland and low-effort than anything. A sequel is already in the works, though hopefully the Academy won't repeat their mistake with it.
