It's the Groundhog Day of romantic comedies...if Groundhog Day was constantly patting itself on the back after all of its best jokes. While there are some pretty earnest, laugh out loud scenes sprinkled throughout, the movie stops far too frequently to catch its breath and give the story another kickstart.
It's a very sweet and sentimental endeavor, and Drew Barrymore does well as the darling amnesiac , but watching Adam Sandler go through the same motions becomes a nesting doll situation of irony. And not in a good way.
