Every Adam Sandler Movie Ranked By How Punchable Adam Sandler Is

10. Mr. Deeds

Adam Sandler Punch Happy Gilmore
Columbia Pictures

This is the point in Sandler's filmography where his whole "amiable schlub with a secret heart of gold" schtick starts to grow tiresome. It's as if, once the new millennium hit, he began desperately trying to make up for his previous string of aggressively immature outings by showing us what a good-natured dude he can pretend to be.

But Mr. Deeds isn't fooling anyone. Sandler couldn't hold a candle to Gary Cooper's flatulence, and he definitely can't carry a story this pedestrian on his feeble shoulders.

The only thing that makes Sandler's lazy indifference tolerable here is the cast of uninspired, hollow characters surrounding him. Winona Ryder plays the unscrupulous reporter/love interest with the zeal of a flat tire, while Peter Gallagher is relegated to the Snidely Whiplash role for no apparent reason.

Punch Level: A smattering of fists up and down his doughy, everyman body.
