Every Batman Movie Opening Scene Ranked From Worst To Best

6. The Lego Batman Movie

The Lego Batman Movie certainly begins as it means to go on, by making fun of the edginess of the Christopher Nolan Batman movies, what with Will Arnett's faux-gritty voiceover narration kicking things off.

Much like The Lego Movie it spawned from, this spin-off is visually stunning and hilariously meta from start to finish, beginning with what's basically a parody of your typical Batman opening yet also totally entertaining in its own right.

We're reacquainted with Lego Batman and perhaps more importantly introduced to Zack Galifianakis' brilliant portrayal of The Joker.

Though much of the sequence is focused on the Joker and an overstuffed array of tertiary villains causing chaos in Gotham, it's primarily occupied with parodying the yin-yang relationship between Batman and the Joker from the comics onwards.

Batman's obsession with the Clown Prince of Crime is hilariously sent-up when he denies even thinking much about the Joker, as massively hurts the villain's feelings.

It's the longest pure opening to any Batman film despite being animated and more frantically paced.

It might ultimately be a little too hyperactive for its own good, but it's still a lot of fun, and you can't argue with the eye-watering artistry of its animation.
