Affleck had the misfortune to team up with legendary action director John Woo during what was undeniably the worst period of his entire career, as he bristled up against the constraints of the Hollywood filmmaking system.

Despite being adapted from Philip K. Dick's short story of the same name, this sci-fi actioner never rises above feeling like a mediocre facsimile of other, better Dick adaptations, namely Blade Runner, Total Recall, and Minority Report.

While hardly the unmitigated disaster it was painted as on release, the aggressively flimsy script prevents it or its cast doing much truly interesting at all, and Woo ultimately feels like the wrong choice to direct it.
