Every Best Actor Oscar Movie Winner Of The 21st Century Ranked
9. Forest Whitaker - The Last King Of Scotland (2006)
Who should have won: Will Smith - The Pursuit of Happyness.
Although he shouldn't have beaten Will Smith and his career-best work in The Pursuit of Happyness to Oscar glory, it's hard to be mad that the Academy awarded Forest Whitaker his first trophy for his portrayal of vile dictator Idi Amin.
If any Best Actor win can be considered underrated, it would surely be this one, as Whitaker completely strips himself of his usual grace to bring every ounce of Amin's horrific brutality, manipulation, and wickedness to life. Watching him, it becomes easy to forgive The Last King of Scotland for its many flaws.
With commanding screen presence and a knack for bringing Amin's booming speeches and paranoia to life, Whitaker is utterly transformative as a figure of true evil that will leave even the most hardened of viewers shaken.
