Every Best Picture Oscar Winner Ranked Worst To Best
65. Tom Jones (1963)
As unconventional a Best Picture winner as there's ever been, Tom Jones is a messy and mildly affecting comedy that follows its eponymous character on a romantic melodrama that rarely takes a breath.
By the end, Tom Jones' cluttered tone has worn its story more than a little thin, but even so nothing gets in the way of Albert Finney's spectacular performance or the film's manic energy, which makes even its less inspired moments easy to digest. You'll probably have to watch it more than once to fully get on-board with it, mind.
