Every Bond Movie Theme Song Ranked Worst To Best
1. Theme For 007 (Dr No) By Monty Norman + John Barry Orchestra
There have been many iconic instrumental pieces that have stood the test of time as masterpiece anthems for the movies they were created for. From John Williams score for Star Wars, the edginess of the Mission Impossible theme, the grandeur of Superman's heroic tune, to the out and out 'epicness' for Rocky and the simple but ominous Jaws theme.
Any of these classics could put forward a case as the greatest of them all. But as great as all these tunes are, they are all running for second prize, for the theme for 007 will always be number one.
Monty Norman was the man who composed this gem with the John Barry Orchestra performing a tune that even Bond naysayers can't help but tap away to. Everything about the tune is perfection, from the build up of tension created by the brass and string section, to the riff that has become so synonymous to Bond. And then as the brass section picks up comes the crescendo that is the instrumental's peak, an explosion of awesomeness that makes you want to get out and take down SPECTRE yourself.
In Dr No's opening title sequence, the tune morphed into a weird version of Three Blind Mice that threatened to cheapen the moment and the anthem. But thankfully the legacy of the 007 theme remains in tack, not just as the greatest Bond theme, but the greatest theme of any movie.
