Every Cillian Murphy Movie Ranked Worst To Best

33. Transcendence (2014)

Cillian Murphy Inception
Warner Bros. Pictures

Transcendence is far from transcendent. A jargon-filled techno-thriller about AI and mortality, it stars a painfully miscast Johnny Depp as a scientist on the verge of allowing people to upload their minds to a super computer, and Murphy turns up as an FBI agent unsure of Depp's intentions.

Murphy's perfectly fine in the role, but Transcendence is so clichéd and nonsensical he never becomes anything more than a stereotypical federal agent, poised, stiff and only really in place to service the plot and keep everything moving. Not awful, but only because it's barely anything.

As for the rest of the film? Stay clear, I beg.
