3. The Joker Origin

Even though it looked like it had gone quiet in the wake of Jared Leto getting his own Joker projects, the Origin movie was confirmed very recently with Joaquin Phoenix announced as playing the man who would become the Clown Prince Of Crime.

Filming under the working title Romeo, the film now has a rumoured character list and seems to be being based partly on The Man Who Laughs, The Killing Joke and Martin Scorsese's The King Of Comedy (with Robert DeNiro actually also linked to a role in it). It all looks great, even if Todd Phillips directing is still very odd.

Will It Happen?

Surprisingly, it is happening, which is one of Warner Bros' boldest moves of this whole slate. It won't have a big budget, though, so that might be why it's classed as an easier gamble.
