Every Halloween Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
6. Halloween 4: The Return Of Michael Myers
Plot: Despite being blown up in Halloween II, Michael Myers is still alive. Ten years later, he wakes up and goes after his only remaining family: Jamie (Danielle Harris), the daughter of Laurie Strode.
Halloween 4 is, just like many Halloween movies, a wildly inconsistent work.
The film is well-acted for the most part; Donald Pleasance is as good as usual, Ellie Cornell is an engaging Final Girl for the film and Danielle Harris gives a terrific child actor performance that ranks among the franchise's best. As well as this, the film offers plenty of thrills, a suspenseful final act and a shocking ending so it is watchable and amiable enough, but it's also fairly weak in many ways.
Once again, it's tense but never scary at all, it's too slow much of the time and perhaps most jarringly of all, the film often makes no sense whatsoever. Characters are constantly teleporting between different locations with no explanation - at one point Michael Myers somehow gets from the roof of a house to the ground in mere seconds. Additionally, killing Laurie Strode off-screen was not the right way to go.
To summarize: watchable, but weak. Still, at least it's better than the next two sequels.
