Every James Bond Movie Ranked Worst To Best

9. The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)

Spectre Daniel Craig

Roger Moore's seven-movie tenure as Bond is bursting with unforgivable sins and ill-advised creative choices, but none of them can be found in The Spy Who Loved Me, which makes perfect use of the actor's more laidback portrayal of MI6's finest.

You only need to think about its most memorable moments in order to see how great it is, from the fight scenes against recurring antagonist Jaws, the maniacal villainy of Karl Stromberg, the underwater Lotus, the gravity-defying opening and Barbara Bach's lethal KGB agent Anya.

Starting with Carly Simon's rendition of "Nobody Does It Better" to the moment Jaws kills a shark, The Spy Who Loved Me is one of the franchise's most entertaining instalments, and easily stands as Moore's greatest contribution to the series.

Other films have been smarter, many more have had more inventive villains, but few have been as straight-up fun as what director Lewis Gilbert achieves here.
