Every Kevin Smith Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
7. Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back (2001)
Jay And Silent Bob is in no way a masterful film: it is puerile at times, it is downright idiotic at others, but the stoner pair were the breakout stars of Smith's View Askew universe for a reason. Again, it's another film that wasn't critically well received, but which has in time grown to cult status.
As an opportunity to see Smith's most breezily watchable characters, it can't be knocked as pure entertainment, even if the script is a little limited and the plot just plain dumb. Watching Smith's poet laureate Jay wax lyrical in his own idiosyncratic way has its own beauty too.
The long and short of it is that if you like Smith's work up to this point, you'll enjoy it: for everyone else, it might feel a little like being invited into a very strange realm that isn't quite to your tempo.
