Every Leonardo DiCaprio Movie Ranked Worst To Best

10. The Great Gatsby (2013)

Leonardo DiCaprio Shutter Island

Given how important Romeo + Juliet was for his career, it was only a matter of time before DiCaprio finally reunited with Baz Luhrmann. This time around, they adapted The Great Gatsby with more over-the-top splendour than anyone was expecting.

Even for Luhrmann, The Great Gatsby is a volcanic exercise in excess, loud and eventually too messy to do Fitzgerald's novel justice (not that any filmmaker could). Despite this, DiCaprio never falters, offering audiences a performance that makes every flaw in the movie worth confronting.

DiCaprio has rarely been so alluring on-screen. He brings to life a seemingly content man, and then effortlessly picks him apart to reveal a tragic figure destroyed by obsessive hope. It's hard to think of another actor who could've explored such loss.
