Every Live-Action Disney Movie Remake Ranked Worst To Best
11. Mulan
Mulan is a soundly middle-tier effort, which while offering some welcome thematic updates for modern tastes, never really rises above mere decency.
Yifei Liu acquits herself well as the lead and it's packed with creative fight choreography, though the editing is messily chaotic and intrusive VFX often lurch into eyesore territory, enough to make you question precisely where all of that $200 million budget went.
It certainly wasn't on the original's beloved, Eddie Murphy-voiced dragon Mushu, who was head-scratchingly removed from the remake altogether to appease Chinese audiences. Pfft.
On the balance of things, though, Mulan was a solidly acceptable remake that caused offense to few fans of the original, despite settling for a relatively unambitious treatment.
