Every M. Night Shyamalan Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
7. Praying With Anger (1992)
If you've seen Shyamalan's 1992 debut feature, it was most likely in potato quality on YouTube, because this one's damn hard to get a hold of.
It may lack the technical finesse of all his other movies, but considering he made it as a student on a small $800,000 budget, it seems fair to go a little easy on him here.
Yes, the film is overwrought and sappy at times, but it's also clearly the director's most personal film to date, as his protagonist travels back to India to examine cultural dissonance between India and the West.
It's more a curio than anything, but some of the cinematography is legitimately quite gorgeous, and it's a well-ish-told story with some solid food-for-thought behind it.
