Every M. Night Shyamalan Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

6. The Village (2004)

M Night Shyamalan
Touchstone Pictures

After a three-peat of critically-acclaimed thrillers, The Village was Shyamalan's first failure, even if it still made a ton of dough at the box office.

Not nearly as bad as many profess it to be but still an undeniable disappointment, this is a thriller that does a solid job building suspense in its first half, before unveiling a ludicrous twist that's just too daft for most to get on board with.

Still, the performances are splendid for the most part (especially Bryce Dallas Howard in the lead) and Roger Deakins characteristically shoots the s*** out of it. It's ultimately neither as bad or good as certain quarters want it to be, but certainly an interesting effort.
