Every Main James Bond Villain Ranked Worst To Best

6. Raoul Silva (Skyfall, 2012)

Raoul Silva
MGM

Another wealthy and insane blonde in the form of Javier Bardem’s vengeful hacker extraordinaire. Silva is a former agent of M’s, and with that comes immediate legitimacy of threat and talent. Described as a sinister figure of fear before we meet him, Silva is introduced delivering a long, charming monologue about cannibal rats as he slowly approaches a detained Bond like a flaming, leisurely homing missile.

His entanglement of Bond in a personal, yet high stakes mission places him favourably on a list of 007’s most dangerous enemies. Silva is shown to be highly capable, destructive, and utterly relentless, engineering complex schemes of infiltration, electronic or otherwise, all in efforts to humiliate and murder M, the woman who had left him for dead long ago.

He earns extra points on that note, as the only Bond villain to date whose villainous plot ultimately succeeded, even if he wasn’t the last rat standing to see the fruits of his labour.

Best Moment: Finally approaching his elusive prey, the captured M, at Skyfall’s chapel, snarling and salivating with the ecstasy of knowing that his vengeance is mere moments away from fruition. It’s here that we truly understand the ill-fated Severine’s sheer terror of the man.

Worst Moment: Planning so far ahead that he set up an bomb in the London Underground so that he could trigger an explosion that would send the oncoming metro train crashing through to land right where Bond would be standing… simply unbelievable from a villain who at times feels too Joker-esque.
