The best of the best of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ever since its opening chapter back in 2008, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown to become more and more like Marvel Comics. The shared universe is home to an incredible amount of well established, deeply loved characters from Earth to Asgard to Xandar and beyond, and now spanning across multiple timelines.

With the release of Shang-Chi in 2021, the number of MCU movies is up to a staggering 25, with What If…? currently dropping on Disney+ as the franchise’s fourth original series. Throughout all these projects, each and every character has had the spotlight on them at some point, and have done great things.

A character’s greatest moment may come from an incredible heroic feat, the kind of thing that earns and cements them the title of superhero. Others however, could be emotional moments that reduce any audience to tears, awe inspiring, jaw dropping actions pieces, or possibly quieter, more subtle character driven moments.

It is by and large these characters that have made the Marvel Cinematic Universe as popular, and as successful as it has ultimately become, and while none are defined by just one moment, these are the absolute standouts.

27. Rhodey - Standing Up To Secretary Ross

From the very first movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, James Rhodes has stood by Tony Stark’s side as his best friend, and in time, fellow superhero. Though the actor that portrayed Rhodey may not have been constant, Rhodey himself certainly has been.

The character’s greatest moment in the franchise is likely yet to come, as he is set to star in his own series on Disney+ in the coming years. Pre-Armour Wars, Rhodey’s role has been limited to supporting the characters around him, however that hasn’t stopped him from being a badass.

Despite his adamant defence of the Sokovia Accords, even going so far as to arrest Steve Rogers along with Bucky, Sam, and T'Challa, he was big enough to realise his mistake when Earth was under threat from Thanos.

When Captain America returned, Secretary Ross remained petty, and ordered Rhodey to arrest him. However, possibly for the first time in his life, he disobeyed a direct command, instead simply hanging up on Ross in spite of it being a court martial offence.
