Every Marvel Cinematic Universe Villain Ranked Worst To Best

1. Loki - The Avengers

Thor Loki

Plan: To gain vengeance on his brother for being his father's favourite, but mostly to take over Asgard, one way or another.

Status: Alive, kicking and currently on the Asgardian throne (for now, at least).

He might have been in a terrible film, but nobody comes close to the almost universal appeal of Tom Hiddleston's Loki.

Introduced initially as Thor's runt brother, his lack of physical prowess meant we got to see a villain in the Machiavellian style, conniving and intelligent, manipulating behind the scenes rather than aggressively attacking. And thanks to Hiddleston's darkly charming performance, he has quickly fostered a cult of adoration.

After establishing his daddy issues in Thor, Loki really took his place as the MCU's villainous MVP in The Avengers when he was given a more typically grand power scheme, which gave him more opportunity to show his childishness, his petulance and his egotism. It was a marriage made in villain heaven as his personality anchored the threat of the film, and it's testament to his success that there's literally no MCU film that wouldn't be improved with his presence.
