28. Elysium (2013)
Following the success of the brilliant District 9, director Neill Blomkamp decided to go bigger for his next project. Casting Damon as a poor criminal desperate to save himself after being infected with radiation, Elysium succeeds as a thrilling action but not much else.
The visuals keep it afloat beautifully, and though the social commentary is a touch on the nose at times, it is quite effective in places.
Between Damon's solid action-hero role and Jodie Foster's comically bad accent, Elysium is a pretty exciting film, even if it never lives up to its biggest themes.
