Every MCU Director's Best Film (NOT In The MCU)

11. Joss Whedon - Serenity

Chef 2014
Universal Pictures

Given some recent revelations, the less said about Joss Whedon the man, the better. Well known for creating hit shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly, Whedon has only ever directed four films (five, if you count Justice League).

Two of these were of course The Avengers and its sequel Age of Ultron. The former is arguably the most important entry in the MCU, proving that the Marvel experiment was paying off. The latter suffered heavily from studio interference, with producers demanding Whedon spend more time setting up Phase Three, rather than focusing on making a compelling movie.

As for his other two features, one is a pretty interesting adaptation of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, starring many actors from Whedon’s previous projects and the other is obviously Serenity.

Continuing on from the cancelled too soon series Firefly, the crew of the spaceship Serenity find themselves in grave danger from one of their own. If you somehow haven’t seen either the show or this movie you ought to check it out immediately.
