Every MCU Origin Story Ranked From Worst To Best

While Spider-Man: Homecoming doesn't quite reach the heights of Sam Raimi's first two Spider-Man films, it's still a tremendously entertaining coming-out party for the MCU's Peter Parker (Tom Holland), after being introduced in Captain America: Civil War the year prior.

Despite being written by a staggering six people, Homecoming slots Spidey into the franchise with impressive ease, while smartly glossing over the typical origin story bumph we're all painfully familiar with.

The major triumph is of course Holland, who delivers the most authentic screen rendition of Parker to date here, ensuring Homecoming functions superbly as a goofy high-school comedy.

Thanks to its brilliant ensemble cast, Homecoming gets to have its cake and eat it, earning easy laughs but also benefitting from the menace of Michael Keaton's Vulture - leading to what remains one of the MCU's best-disguised plot twists to date.

While a relatively safe origin movie overall, it provided a firm base on which Marvel Studios has evidently built two decidedly more ambitious sequels.
