Every Movie Based On A Saturday Night Live Sketch - Ranked From Worst To Best

5. Wayne's World 2

The original Wayne's World was the kind of surprise smash hit that no one could have predicted, but even more surprising is just how not terrible the follow-up was. A big part of that is that Wayne's World 2 is the rare comedy sequel that tries to do its own thing rather than rehashing the beats of its predecessor. We've moved away from the cable access machinations for the most part (with just enough mentions of it to make us remember what it is these guys technically do for a living) and now the focus is on Wayne and Garth attempting to recreate the majesty of Woodstock. Wayne's World 2 is more of a road trip movie, and it does well to stick and move, because the greatest moments in the film happen when our trusty duo have a new environment to play off (in familiar settings, they have a tendency to repeat gags, which are still funny, but not nearly as funny as they were the first time around.) All in all, the sequel is a solid effort. It's not quite as quotable, the cameos a little less endearing, and the jokes a bit more hit-and-miss, but that's likely because they'd really tapped the well the first time around. The production is a little better, though, and the music was insanely good. What more do you want from a sequel based on an SNL sketch?
