Every Muppet Movie Ranked Worst To Best
1. The Muppet Movie
This film released to scores of positive reviews and still proves that sometimes the first outing can forever remain the best. The Muppet Movie is an extremely fun production that combines the charm of the characters with a simple story that gives them each an opportunity to shine.
The film tells of Kermit's journey to make it to an audition in Hollywood and picks up almost every major character on the way. It also features a great antagonist in the form of Doc Hopper, an entrepreneur who feels cheated after Kermit refuses to endorse his french-fried frog legs restaurant.
The feature combines this simple road-trip with a funny and petty villain well and allows for the main focus to be on the relationship and humour shared between the iconic characters.
Again the dynamic between Miss Piggy and Kermit is hilarious, Fozzie is on top form as the cheesy comedian, and Gonzo delivers on his usual antics but pushed to the max. It all culminates with a fantastic sequence singing The Rainbow Connection, which is quickly the most emotional and memorable song in the franchise.
The Muppet Movie shows how simplicity can be the best way to approach the introduction of a beloved property to the big screen and is easily the best of the bunch.
