We might be cheating a bit by including this, seeing as it was never officially released. Nevertheless, 1994's The Fantastic Four really is essential viewing for any Marvel historian.
The circumstances around the film's production are undoubtedly a lot more interesting than the movie itself. Even though quite a lot of money and publicity was poured into it, all evidence suggests that the entire thing was an elaborate scam that was never intended to be released at all.
Of course, the film eventually leaked to the public, and, despite the clearly unfinished special effects, it is surprisingly watchable. Although we have to admit that it looks more like something made in 1971 than 1994.
Notably, the film has a shockingly luscious score, far too good for the weird and unfocused movie it was made for.
