Every Pixar Hero Ranked From Worst To Best

5. Sulley (Monsters, Inc. & Monsters University)

Brave Ratatouille Toy Story
Pixar

Monsters Inc. may be many things, but its emotional core is centered around cyan-coloured monster Sulley (John Goodman) becoming guardian to the two-year-old human girl, Boo (Mary Gibbs), who sneaks into the Monsters, Inc. factory.

The irony of Sulley's appearance is that, of course, he's actually a prototypical gentle giant: an incredibly good-natured and well-tempered creature who serves as a most heart-warming unconventional father figure to Boo throughout their journey together.

The paternal warmth of John Goodman's voice work does a lot of the heavy lifting here, for while Sulley isn't as outwardly complex a character as Pixar's very very best, he is the sort of stalwart friend we all want in our lives.
