How exactly Skinner became the head chef at Gusteau's Restaurant is a mystery in itself, given that he cares little for fine dining and more for besmirching Gusteau's name in order to market cheap, disgusting microwaveable meals, eventually kidnapping and threatening to kill Remy in order to further his scheme.

Skinner's short demeanor and eccentricity, make for excellent physical comedy and he remains one of the few villains that you can laugh at. The job of voicing Skinner was initially offered to Peter Dinklage, but eventually went to Bilbo Baggins himself, Ian Holm, who does an expert job.
