Every Planet Of The Apes Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
6. Conquest Of The Planet Of The Apes (1972)
The series' fourth instalment takes place in a world where all of Earth's dogs and cats have died out, so mankind has enslaved apes to fill the pet void.
Roddy McDowall makes his debut as Ceasar who, in this particular story, leads apekind in a revolt against their human masters and makes a veiled reference to the Civil Rights Movement in almost every scene.
Conquest Of The Planet Of The Apes is one of the most political entires in the series, and there are times when it rings true, but the scenes with Ricardo Montalban in his circus ringleader outfit have all the credibility of Troy McClure's Apes musical.
The sequel also bites off more banana than it can chew, as the budget simply wasn't there for the climactic ape uprising scene in LA's Century City, which is a shame because it could have been a memorable sequence.
