Every Saw Film Ranked From Worst To Best

8. Saw 3D

Saw Bear Trap
Lionsgate

Plot: A conman who pretended to be a Jigsaw survivor is put through a real game, while Mark Hoffman goes after Jill Tuck (Betsy Russell), Jigsaw's ex-wife, in order to get revenge on her for trying to kill him.

If Saw V manages to avoid the bottom spot in rankings such as this, then Saw 3D is the one which usually gets last place instead. Since the traps in this one are actually rather good, this one is arguably better than Saw V but only by a bit. Saw 3D, which was intended as a franchise finale, is still a truly dreadful film.

A flat, monotonous and tension-free collection of gory death scenes without any lightness or depth, Saw 3D is an enormously dull and depressing viewing that offers very little in the way of excitement. The shoddy special effects, flat direction and howlingly awful performances from its atrocious cast make the whole thing even more painful to watch.

Worst of all, this completely fails as a franchise ending, since it fails to give any of the characters a satisfying or well-written ending. Additionally, that Dr Lawrence Gordon (Cary Elwes) twist was shockingly bad.

To be honest, a reboot felt justified in this case. It would've been pretty depressing if this had actually been the story's ending.
