Every Steven Spielberg Movie Ranked From Worst To Best

18. Ready Player One (2018)

While it won't be remembered among the director's greats, the sheer stylistic audacity of Spielberg's brand new effort is sure to endure for a long, long time.

Touting state-of-the-art, eye-melting visual effects and some of his most dazzling direction in years, Ready Player One is a warm-hearted tribute to pop-culture at large, lacking the cynical, calculated sheen you'd be forgiven for expecting.

Though its fairly down-the-line plot and scarcely-developed characters can't ever match the bombastic style, it's earnest and feel-good in all the right ways. Moreover, it's simply staggering to see a 71-year-old filmmaker turn in material so fearlessly cutting-edge.
