7. Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade (1989)
For those who struggled with Temple of Doom's more skittish tone, The Last Crusade is a return to the more palatable confidence of Raiders, a whip-cracking good time elevated substantially by the fantastically-matched performances of Harrison Ford and Sean Connery.
It's almost unthinkable that a threequel can be this good, especially one that hurls Indy's long-suffering dad into the mix, which in so many action-adventure franchises would feel like an act of desperation.
From the River Phoenix-starring prologue to the banter, the wonderful action sequences and gut-busting laughs ("No ticket!"), it sits alongside Toy Story 3 as basically the perfect second sequel.
