Spielberg and George Lucas' loving homage to the adventure serials of the 1930s and 1940s is blockbuster entertainment with almost no equal. The pair, abetted by a killer Lawrence Kasdan script, created one of the most charming tentpole heroes of all time with Harrison Ford's whip-cracking protagonist, and set a template that just about every modern action flick aspires to.

At a snappy 115 minutes, it wastes not a frame of film, paced for maximum entertainment value at all times, while subverting expectations - the non-swordfight! - and giving Indy an all-time foil with Karen Allen's fantastic Marion Ravenwood.

Basically, if you don't like this film, you don't like cinema.
